First and Final Mile services are multi-step and describe the movement of goods in the supply chain process. Candor’s First and Final Mile services have perfected moving goods to and from warehouses, and to and from customers and storefronts.

 CAN SEEM CONFUSING

Does “First Mile” mean the first mile of my shipment, and does “Final Mile” only mean the last mile of my shipment? Is there a handoff? Is Candor handing off my shipment after the first leg, to another carrier, and then getting it back for the final leg?

THE PACKAGE’S JOURNEY

The first stretch of a product’s delivery journey is when it’s shipped from the manufacturer to the client’s warehouse – in this case, we’ll use ABC Coffee Co. ABC Coffee Co. has decided to close down 60 stores in the Houston Metro area (I guess they prefer tea there) and they need 60 of Candor’s trucks to pick up all coffee grinding machines and bring them to a central Candor warehouse, where they will then be consolidated onto one or two trailers and shipped back to ABC Coffee Co.’s warehouse near their HQ in Washington.

Conversely, the final stretch of the journey is the product being delivered to a customer’s doorstep. This is the final mile. Using ABC Coffee Co. again, they have 60 stores in Dallas, TX that need coffee grinders. They would order the grinders from a vendor, and then the vendor would ship them to one of Candor’s warehouses. Candor would then deliver the coffee grinders to the 60 stores using the 60 trucks.
