If XYZ Airline has an aircraft that doesn’t pass its maintenance inspection because a control panel is malfunctioning, it becomes AOG – Aircraft on Ground. In addition to the deep frustration of impacted passengers, the very real costs of a grounded plane due to a maintenance issue are sky high. A single, non-operational plane carrying 250 passengers who paid an average of $250 per ticket adds up to $62,500.
